Founded in 1933, the Academy is the preeminent provider of musculoskeletal education to orthopaedic surgeons and others in the world. Its continuing medical education activities include a world-renowned Annual Meeting, multiple CME courses held around the country and at the Orthopaedic Learning Center, and various medical and scientific publications and electronic media materials.
The National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS) is a part of the U.S. National Institutes of Health (NIH). It conducts and funds research on brain and nervous system disorders and has a budget of just over US$1.5 billion. The mission of NINDS is “to reduce the burden of neurological disease — a burden borne by every age group, every segment of society, and people all over the world.” NINDS has established two major branches for research: an extramural branch that funds studies outside the NIH, and an intramural branch that funds research inside the NIH. Most of NINDS' budget goes to research extramural research. NINDS' basic science research focuses on studies of the fundamental biology of the brain and nervous system, genetics, neurodegeneration, learning and memory, motor control, brain repair, and synapses. NINDS also funds clinical research related to diseases and disorders of the brain and nervous system, e.g. AIDS, Alzheimer's disease, epilepsy, muscular dystrophy, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson's disease, spinal cord injury, stroke, and traumatic brain injury.
The American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine (AOSSM) promotes sports medicine education, research, communication, and fellowship and includes national and international orthopaedic sports medicine leaders. The Society works closely with many other sports medicine specialists, including athletic trainers, physical therapists, family physicians, and others to improve the identification, prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation of sports injuries. Formed in 1972 as a forum for education and research with 100 members, the AOSSM today has to more than 2,000 members.
The Calicut Ortho Alumni Association was formed with an idea of annual get together and exchange of scientific ideas among doctors in the field of Orthopaedic Surgery. Over a short period of time, the association has reached enviable position with many CMEs, workshops and doctors training programmes being conducted under its banner. The association has a print journal — “Journal of Calicut Ortho Alumni Association” with ISSN number 0972-9046. The association plans to conduct yearly quiz programmes for undergraduates and postgraduates.

The International Chiropractors Association (ICA) is the world's oldest international chiropractic professional organization representing nearly 8,000 practitioners, students, chiropractic assistants, educators and lay persons world-wide dedicated to the growth and development of the chiropractic profession based on its fundamental principles and philosophy.
The North American Spine Society (NASS) is a multidisciplinary medical organization dedicated to fostering the highest quality, evidence-based, and ethical spine care by promoting education, research, and advocacy. NASS is comprised of more than 5,000 members from several disciplines including orthopedic surgery, neurosurgery, physiatry, neurology, radiology, anesthesiology, research, physical therapy and other spine care professionals.
The Orthopaedic Research Society (ORS) is an organization dedicated to advancement of orthopaedic research. The ORS carries out this mission through education in research, dissemination of research knowledge, advocacy for increasing of resources for research, and increasing awareness of the importance and impact of such research on orthopaedic patients and the public. Additionally, the ORS promotes and encourages the development and availability of clinician-scientists and basic-scientists to assure that there is continuing research efforts whose results will form a basis for providing the highest quality of musculoskeletal care.
The Orthopaedic Research and Education Foundation (OREF) is the one foundation serving the entire orthopaedic community. OREF is an independent, 501(c)(3) organization that raises funds to support research and education on diseases and injuries of bones, joints, nerves, and muscles. OREF-funded research and education enhance clinical care, leading to improved health, increased activity, and a better quality of life for patients.
